Nine years. Two hundred fifteen posts. Six real ciphers. Zero true prophecies.
Before the wordless castles, the recovered Reddit corpus shows a chatty retail trader. Through 2017 he moderated r/Rippled, ran 50-XRP price-guessing contests, posted how-to-buy guides, and celebrated sat-denominated trade claims with victory laps (“Started right on the dot like I said”), telling readers: “C’mon friends, I gave you some clues.”
That phase already carried dated expectations — the November 2017 poem “Remember, remember, the 4th of November” introduces the king and “The Powers That Be” with a dated target, and its companion says: “TPTB are setting something up. I can’t wait for November.” What replaced it was manufactured silence and cipher: a Dec 2017–Jan 2018 binary countdown teaching that wordlessness means something is coming, then a six-layer artifact promising only a price prediction for 2/14/2018. By April 1, 2018 the wordless castle opened. Silence can’t be scored wrong like a dated plain claim; ambiguity lets the audience finish the work.
Six independently-verifiable cipher systems — Caesar shifts, Vigenère keying, Beale-style book cipher, Baconian steganography, playing-card substitution, and a bespoke color-hex encoding — sit inside the imagery. Machine-decoded outputs match by orders of magnitude beyond chance.
The craft is real. Someone made this on purpose, and it took years.
Of 215 dated, falsifiable claims made in advance, zero came true within the timeframes the author set. Retroactive matches — pattern-fitting after an event — are not the same category of evidence.
The prediction record is a null result. That, too, is a finding.
Five mechanisms explain most of what happened in this community. None require anyone involved to be foolish.
Human minds are pattern-completion engines. Given ambiguous input — smoke, static, symbolic art — we do not see randomness, we see faces, letters, prices. This is not a bug. It kept our ancestors alive. Applied to hundreds of cipher-dense images it produces thousands of "matches" per viewer per year.
Once six cipher systems were confirmed as real, every subsequent claim inherited borrowed credibility. If the coding is real, the reasoning goes, then the messages inside the coding must be real too. The two facts are actually independent — a decoded message can still describe something that never happened.
The imagery is deliberately open: crowns, gates, ramps, colors, numerals. Open symbols invite the viewer to supply the meaning. What each reader "found" tended to align closely with what they already hoped for — usually a price, a date, a vindication.
Belief becomes durable when it is shared. In the sub-community around these posts, a member who publicly abandoned an interpretation lost social standing. Members who reinforced the interpretation gained it. The reward structure preserved beliefs long past their falsification.
A ratio of 0/215 is a devastating number. A story about a bear who climbed a ramp toward a crown is a beautiful one. Story sits deeper in cognition than statistics; when they conflict, story wins by default unless deliberately overridden.
Specific, dated claim made in advance; event occurred within the stated window with no reasonable ambiguity.
Deadline not yet reached, or claim ambiguous enough that no fair verdict is possible without further interpretation.
Deadline passed without the stated event; or the stated event required retroactive reframing to appear to have occurred.

The corpus is closed but the analysis is not. New posts, higher-resolution source imagery, improving forensic and AI tools, or a fair methodological challenge would all reopen these findings. We would rather be corrected than be consistent.
Better pattern-finding, reproducible cipher extraction, cross-corpus comparison at scale, stylometric fingerprinting of anonymous authors — the labor that used to take a lifetime now takes a weekend. Findings that once rested on a single researcher's eye can be independently regenerated and audited.
A model can extract a message. It cannot decide whether the message describes something real, whether the timing rules were fair, or whether the audience deserved better than they got. Those are human questions. So is the compassion owed to a community that spent nine years believing in earnest.
Strong evidence, honestly reported — not a claim to permanent certainty. If new posts surface, if higher-resolution scans change a decode, or if a fair methodological challenge holds up, we will revise these findings in public and mark what changed.
The ledger stays open. That is the only honest way to close it.
